Liz Bowen, PhD, (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Humanities at Upstate Medical University. She is also a Presidential Scholar at The Hastings Center, where she was the 2020-2023 Rice Family Fellow in Bioethics and the Humanities. Liz earned her PhD in English and comparative literature from Columbia University and her research explores the intersections of disability studies, bioethics, and the health humanities, with a focus on how cultural narratives of disability shape public perceptions of ethical responsibility. She is also the author of two collections of poetry and co-editor of The Healing Muse.
