Dr. Fitzgerald is director of the Office of Professional Fulfillment and Resilience at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. She provides leadership, content expertise, and program development to promote resilience and well-being, deepen ethical competence, and mitigate moral distress. Her scope includes culture and ethical climate work, team member resiliency efforts and clinical ethics education. She is certified in validated coaching frameworks which cultivate well-being at the individual, team, leader and systems levels. Prior to joining Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, she served in a similar role at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she designed the structure and processes to support a culture of ethical practice, and coordinated existing resiliency efforts with cross-functional partners to assure strategic alignment. Fitzgerald serves nationally on the American Nurses Association Ethics Advisory Board, is the ethics column content advisor for Critical Care Nurse and one of the clinical ethics category leads for the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities annual conference.
