Fellow
Sainte Justine Hospital
Montreal, Quebec
After completing her medical studies at the Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris, France) Beatrice applied for a pediatrics residency in Paris, then specialized in Neonatology and completed a fellowship in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Robert Debré Hospital in Paris. In order to expand her training, she started a 2-year fellowship in the Neonatology unit of the Sainte-Justine Hospital in July 2022.
In parallel to her medical studies, Beatrice, sensitive to complex situations and ethical dilemmas, completed a master's degree in ethics (Éthique & Santé, Espace éthique APHP, Paris) with neonatal palliative care as her research topic in 2019. As her work progressed, Beatrice became interested in the decision-making process of withholding life sustaining treatment, in the changes in practices according to the legal evolution of 2016 in France, and in the dialectic of uncertainty in decision-making in the perinatal context. It is therefore quite natural that Beatrice applied for a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, option Clinical Ethics, under the direction of Annie Janvier, with a focus on the family partnership and the issue of moral distress among caregivers.
