Dr Nico Nortjé holds a PhD in Applied Ethics, and a master’s degree in psychology. He is currently the Executive Director for Clinical Ethics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also director for the Goal Concordant Care and End-of-Life teams at MD Anderson, and is an Associate Professor in the department of Critical Care Medicine. Nico holds honorary appointments at Lakehead University (Canada); The University of the Western Cape (South Africa), and Harvard University (USA). As a virtue ethicist, Nico’s focus is end-of-life ethics and helping patients and families in making some of the most difficult decisions of their lives.
