Brianne Kirkpatrick, MS, LCGC (she/her) is a licensed and certified genetic counselor with expertise at the intersection of consumer DNA testing, genetic identity, and medical genetics. Her niche is working with populations impacted by adoption, donor conception, NPE (“not parent expected”), and unexpected family discoveries. A personal family experience led her to create Watershed DNA, and she has provided genetic counseling, support, and guidance to those who pursue at-home DNA tests. Brianne has written and co-authored multiple journal publications and books and has spoken widely on the topic of biological family searches and surprise discoveries since 2015. Brianne joined 23andMe in 2023 as Medical Communications Manager to help address the growing need for genomics education for healthcare professionals, including those in the mental health space. Brianne speaks frequently with media in her role as Ancestry Expert for the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
